Indigenous people say the purpose of humans is to nurture planets. I believe we are all indigenous. If you look far back in our lineage, our ancestors were caretakers of the land, waters, plants, and animals. Today, many humans feel a calling to join with others of all races, tribes, nations, and religions to take care of their regional lands and waters—to return to sacred relationships with all living things. The spirit of water calls us home to renew our inner emotional waters through the nurturing of our regional source waters.
My love for the waters opened my ability to commune with the spirit of water—the devas, water elementals, and mermaids. I had a vision of a mermaid. She called herself Brita and told me she wanted me to teach people about her. She wanted people to know she is real. She hoped we would care for the water knowing she is real! Since then, I have been listening more deeply, and more importantly, taking action in the form of making offerings, placing flower essences in waterways, doing ceremony, blessing water, writing about mermaids, and honoring, loving, and appreciating water.
When my Native American friend was a child, his Paiute tribal elders traveled and spent more than a month every spring in ceremony to energize the source waters for the Yosemite region in California so all the people, plants, animals, and lands would be healthy and strong. The rain and snow would replenish the valleys. This always touched me deeply to hear his stories. To be reminded of the power of our offering and blessing ceremonies. Years later, when the source waters were neglected, the trees became diseased, the animals got boils, and the health of the region and its people suffered. Many of the elders have passed. I believe it is time for all of us humans to step up and take care of our living waters.
For two years, I traveled with him across the West, Northwest, and Southwest of USA offering teachings, healings, and ceremony for water. We taught people to listen, heal their inner emotional waters, and co-create water wheels (medicine wheels) with the water elementals to step up and care for their regional waters. The creation of these water wheels help gather and distribute energy for water through crystalline energy, sacred geometry, healing spirals, and our loving intentions.
In Ojo Caliente, New Mexico, the spirit of the healing source waters guided us in setting up a water wheel nearby. The Deva told me that this water wheel energizes the Rio Grande River from the source all the way to the mouth in the Gulf. We actually feed the water and all living things when we create water wheels. We’ve also notice that after every water ceremony, it rains!
Our joy is to bless the source waters for Mother Earth today and for our children 500 years into the future. We connect with people, communities, tribes, and water elementals from all over Mother Earth through a network of water wheels linked together with intention. The water wheels provide us with a sacred place to hold ceremony, make prayers, offer blessings and loving intentions and gratitude for water.
Learn what you can do to bless water. There is much we can do to nurture our planet.
